Mojo
Akitas is located in Northern California about 75 miles south of San
Francisco. We breed quality Akitas for show and companionship. Our
interest in Akitas first started in 1989 with a rescued Akita/Lab
mix named Kumo. He was unlike any other dog that I had previously
known and not only looked more Akita than Lab; he had the spirit and
soul of one. Because of Kumo, I began reading books about the breed
and realized the traits in Kumo that we loved so dearly, were the
traits of an Akita.
In
2001, we purchased our first purebred Akita named Candi. She has
taught us so much about the breed and Stacey learned how to show a
dog with her. We bred our first litter in 2004 producing our first
champion! The following year we bred our second litter. Out of this
litter of 5 puppies, 4 of them easily earned their American
championship titles and one of them went on to become America’s #1
Akita All Systems and # 5 Working Dog in 2009 with a total of 14 All
Breed Best In Show wins and 7 Best in Specialty Show wins!
We are
striving to produce healthy dogs with breed type, sound movement and
excellent temperaments. Breeding to improve, not mass produce, we
only breed when we feel that we can make a positive contribution to
the breed. Health clearances such as OFA, CERF and Thyroid panel are
always performed prior to a breeding. Our puppies are raised in our
home receiving plenty of care and socialization. We are always
looking for qualified loving homes for our puppies and usually have
a waiting list so it is recommended that you plan ahead.
Occasionally we may have an available adult.
We are
devoted to this breed and cannot imagine not sharing our home with
one. Paul and I are members of the Akita Club of America, the Golden
Gate Akita Club, American Akita Club of France and the Gavilan Kennel
Club. Please enjoy our
website and don’t hesitate to contact us should you have any
questions. ~Paul & Stacey Borrmann
